I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Davey and Dave’s Artist Point engagement session was full of mist, fog, a little rain, and the kind of soft Washington weather that makes the mountains feel completely different from one hour to the next.
These two came up for their engagement photos before getting married next year, and from the beginning, the sweetest part of the evening had absolutely nothing to do with the scenery. The way Dave looks at Davey is what love songs are written about. There is so much tenderness there, and it shows up in the smallest moments between them. The quick glances, the way they settle into each other, and the way Dave’s whole expression changes when he looks at Davey made photographing them incredibly sweet.
We spent most of our time exploring Heather Meadows and Picture Lake while the fog settled around us. Instead of waiting around for the weather to become something else, we leaned into exactly what the mountain was giving us. An umbrella came out when the rain picked up, lanterns added a little warmth as the light shifted, and naturally there was a champagne pop because engagement photos deserve at least a tiny bit of chaos.
By the time we headed farther up toward Artist Point, the fog was thick enough to hide most of the bigger views. That did not make the evening feel like anything was missing. Mount Baker can be bright and expansive one day and completely wrapped in clouds the next, and both versions have their own personality. This one felt quiet, intimate, and a little moody in the best possible way.
I also love when couples are willing to just be together rather than feeling like every second has to become some giant photographic moment. Davey and Dave brought such a genuine softness to their session, and that translated beautifully into their photos. Nothing needed to be overcomplicated. Their connection was already doing all the work.
Getting to document people who so clearly adore each other is always special, and these two made that very easy to see. Davey and Dave are getting married next year, and after watching the way they love each other for an evening, I am already so excited for everything ahead of them.
