Emerson and Cameron’s Olympic Rooftop Pavilion wedding brought together live music, plenty of happy tears, colorful details, and one very beautiful afternoon in Ballard.
Music has been part of their story from the beginning. Emerson and Cameron met while playing music together, and both now play in the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. They had been together for six and a half years before getting engaged on New Year’s Eve, and when asked what they love most about being together, their answer was simple: evolving together.
Their wedding day started at Hotel Ballard, with simple getting ready photos and details before heading up to the rooftop for their first look. Cameron’s reaction said pretty much everything. He lifted his glasses, wiped away the tears, and could not stop staring at Emerson.
From there, we headed into the streets of Ballard for portraits. The bright afternoon light pushed us toward a slightly more editorial feel, especially in some of the black and white images, and I absolutely love how they turned out. Their 17-person wedding party joined us for photos, followed by family portraits in the shade, plus a very quick appearance from Emerson and Cameron’s dog before she headed off with her sitter.
Back at Olympic Rooftop Pavilion, their ceremony was full of even more emotion. A quartet made up of friends performed as they came down the aisle, which felt especially meaningful for two people whose relationship began through music. Cameron cried again as Emerson walked toward him, their vows were beautiful, and the entire ceremony felt incredibly personal.
Afterward, guests headed downstairs for cocktail hour while the rooftop was transformed for dinner. The afternoon light coming through the room was unreal, especially as it hit the glassware and tables, creating some of my favorite detail photographs from the day.
As evening settled over Seattle, we stepped back onto the roof for blue-hour portraits before heading into toasts and dancing. The reception gave me a chance to lean into a little more cinematic, editorial lighting, with dramatic angles during the speeches and directional lighting across the dance floor.
And that dance floor definitely delivered. Grandma made her way out to dance, one groomsman ripped his pants, Emerson changed into her reception dress, and everyone kept celebrating.
With around 90 guests, this somehow still felt like such an intimate wedding. There was so much genuine excitement for Emerson and Cameron in every part of the day, from the first look to the ceremony to the speeches. These two clearly have an incredible group of people in their corner.
Next up is their honeymoon, followed by plenty more of what they already love doing together: hiking, camping, traveling, exploring with their dog, and continuing to evolve together.
