I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
It was such a beautiful day celebrating Emily + Amrinder at this Rainbow Lodge wedding in North Bend, Washington.
Emily + Amrinder’s story started during pediatric residency where, in their words, they “went through hell together and got trauma bonded” before eventually realizing they were made for each other. They started as best friends first, helping each other build dating profiles and talking through what they wanted in a partner before everyone around them started asking when they were finally going to make things official. The nurses apparently figured it out before they did.
After dating for two years, Amrinder proposed during a trip to Banff after an eight mile hike to the top of Big Beehive overlooking Lake Louise. Emily said he made her hike all the way to the top before asking, and then they floated the last few miles back down together, which honestly feels very fitting for the two of them.
Their wedding celebration in Washington came after already having an elopement ceremony on the beach and another wedding in India. This day at Rainbow Lodge was for their closest friends and family, and every part of it felt intentional, emotional, and completely full of joy.
The day started surrounded by forest views and colorful flowers tucked into every corner of Rainbow Lodge. Emily wore her mother’s wedding dress from the 90’s for the ceremony and cocktail hour, which felt so perfect for the setting and the overall feel of the day. Later in the evening she changed into her second dress before everyone headed to her childhood home in North Bend for the reception.
One of my favorite things about this wedding was how personal all of the details were. Their reception tables each had childhood photos of Emily + Amrinder matching the table numbers, which was such a fun detail for guests to discover throughout the night. They also included a tree planting ceremony where they combined dirt from both of their childhood homes into the same pot as their maple tree, symbolizing the life they are building together.
The reception itself was way too much fun. Emily’s parents surprised everyone with a sing-a-long performance from Hamilton along with a dance they had previously performed during their wedding celebration in India. There were giant cut outs of their cats making their way around the dance floor all night, colorful garden party vibes everywhere, and so much laughter from beginning to end.
We also snuck away for portraits along the river during golden hour at the sweetest little park nearby. The light through the trees, the water, Emily’s veil moving in the wind, everything about it felt dreamy and quiet in the middle of such a joy-filled day.
But one of the moments I keep thinking about happened during portraits after I gave them walkie talkies so we could communicate from farther away. Amrinder said something over the walkie, and Emily immediately smiled and said, “the baby heard your voice and started kicking!” It was such a precious moment, and one that made this day so much more special.
These two love hiking, traveling, being hermits with their cats, and talking about “nerdy medical things,” whether Amrinder admits it or not. They’re already planning more adventures together including visits to national parks around the world, trips to Italy and Iceland, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with growing their family.
Such an incredible day celebrating these two and all the people who love them.
