A Rattlesnake Lake elopement in North Bend, Washington means embracing whatever the Pacific Northwest decides to hand you, and Hannah and Jackson’s wedding day was the perfect example of that.
The forecast seemed determined to keep everyone guessing. Throughout the day there were thunderstorms, rain showers, bursts of sunshine, and even hail. Somehow, right when it mattered most, the weather cooperated. As guests gathered at Rattlesnake Lake and the ceremony began, the rain moved out, the sun appeared, and the mountains put on a show.
The day started at a North Bend Airbnb where Hannah got ready surrounded by family. One of the sweetest moments was her first look with her dad before sharing a private first look with Jackson. After spending much of their relationship navigating long distance, seeing each other dressed for their wedding day felt especially meaningful.
Their story started thanks to a mutual friend who thought they would be perfect together. A lunch date during college led to countless shared adventures, a favorite concert, and eventually a relationship neither of them expected. After graduation, military assignments sent them to different states and they made the difficult decision to separate. Six months later, Hannah reached out, and both quickly realized the breakup had been a mistake. Getting back together confirmed what they already knew deep down: they were meant to spend their lives together.
Before the ceremony, Hannah and Jackson shared private vows along the lake. Then family arrived and gathered for portraits before the ceremony overlooking the water and mountains. Following their vows, Hannah’s dad gave a champagne toast, everyone enjoyed slices of gluten-free red velvet cake, and the celebration continued with family and friends.
As the evening went on, we headed into the nearby forest trails for portraits among the towering trees and lantern-lit paths. The moody woodland setting felt like something straight out of a storybook and was the perfect contrast to the open mountain views around the lake.
One of my favorite details from the day was Hannah’s concern about keeping her dress clean. Anyone planning a mountain elopement knows that’s usually wishful thinking. By the end of the evening, the dress had picked up a little dirt from the trails, exactly as it should. Some wedding dresses are made for ballrooms. This one was made for adventure.
Between the changing weather, mountain views, forest portraits, private vows, and a celebration filled with the people who matter most, Hannah and Jackson’s wedding day felt like everything a Pacific Northwest elopement should be.
