I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Kayla and Jacob had a stunning summer Chateau Lill Wedding in the foothills of the Snohomish County and it was all so incredible. Kayla and Jacob are the sweetest couple on this planet and their day was as fun, energetic, stunning, and wonderful as they are! Their dance party alone was filled with the most energy I’ve seen at a wedding in a long time and their day kept that energy throughout. I think the best part of their Chateau Lill wedding, at least for me, was then Jacob saw Kayla for the first time at their private first look. He was so nervous beforehand but once he saw his bride, he lost it! There were so many happy tears that I just suggested we take in the moment a bit more, portraits be damed! haha Jacob kept crying and it was such a special moment.
Anyway! We had a blast for their portraits in the sunshine, wedding party, their family was all smiles and so fun, and then their ceremony inside was intimate and cozy. There was quite a bit of rain before their day, so originally, they wanted their ceremony out on the lawn (where we had their wedding party portraits done) but the grass was quite soaked so they oped to get married inside. It was so cozy in there and elegant 🙂 With the reception in the tent just next to the ceremony room, Kayla and Jacob made a thousand paper cranes as a symbol of good luck, and these little cranes were scattered all around their wedding venue. It was so fun! I even used them for their detailed shots 🙂 Then the party really started. These two and their entire guest list danced the night away with their glow sticks and it was hard to keep up with them, honestly! Such great energy, amazing dance moves, and Kayla and Jacob could seriously just dance the night away together. So much fun!
Fun Fact: this was also my first time photographing at the Chateau Lill and it was such a blast! The bridal suite upstairs is awesome and stunning, the balcony for sunset photos was perfect, the staff was so helpful and so sweet, they let us do anything we needed! And all the vines everywhere with grapes hanging from them- just magical. Also fun fact, they have llamas on the property and they are quite strict on petting them/ you can’t and if you do, it’s like a $2k fine. So just a heads up! They are adorable but keep your distance. Overall, this venue is stunning and a blast to work with and shoot at!
Alright, so here is how these two love birds met: “We met at Seattle Pacific University while on the cheerleading team. After taking some classes together, spending time studying together, and hanging out in the same friend group Jacob was falling head over heels. We found ourselves able to hold conversations for hours, shared common dreams and a goal oriented mindset, and had so much fun with little competition and games. Our connection grew apparent and Jacob made the move to get us out of the friend zone.” And this is how the proposal went down: “On Sunday, December 4th, Jacob suggested we go get drinks at Smith Tower. We talked about visiting the observatory in the past, but I had a feeling he was going to propose when I saw how dressed up he was. There are lots of historical facts on the way up to the observatory. I knew Jacob, the history buff, was nervous when he didn’t want to read the history of the oldest skyscraper in Seattle. We went up to the observatory, Jacob lead me out to the balcony and popped the question! A bunch of our friends popped out around the corner!”
Jacob and Kayla are so cute, just after their engagement session in downtown Bellingham last summer, I knew that their wedding was going to be special and it totally was! So congrats and cheers to Kayla and Jacob! You two are perfect together and the world is better with you two together 🙂 Cheers!
