I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
This week’s banter is all about sharing this year’s biggest trends when it comes to what to serve at your wedding reception. From drinks, to snacks/ appetizers, to the main dish, we’ll talk about the best in the business!
Drinks at a wedding is honestly what keeps the party going. There are so many styles and types of drinks you could offer but this year- there’s a twist! One trend of 2018 is to have drinks that match your wedding colors. If you have a blush into your wedding scheme, brides are having pink lemonade or some coloring to make their drinks look pink. Some brides are serving different fruit waters: pineapple water, apple water, cucumber water, etc. Having plenty of refreshing drinks available for your guests is super important- especially if you’re having a summer wedding! Also be sure to have some coffee handy for those guests who have a long drive ahead of them after the party dies down. Another trend of 2018 is offering La Croix! This world wide obsession is now hitting the weddingwire!
Appetizers! This is where the fun really starts! Weddings are so fun with coming up with great ways to have appetizers presented in a creative way. From kabobs, to fruit platters, burger sliders, and cracker displays. Some weddings don’t even have appetizers and go straight to either the main entree or dessert. Most common appetizers are finger food that is easily picked up and snacked on during happy hour. Be sure to have plenty of napkins and extra paper plates people can use instead of getting crumbs and food all over their nice wedding attire.
A big wedding trend of 2018 are weddings not even having a main course, but going straight to dessert. No doubt this is a much more affordable option! Most brides like to get creative with their dessert whether thats just having their own beautifully done decorative wedding cake and having cupcakes for everyone else, or offering donuts! Cake pops, various cookies, even an ice cream bar, are all creative ways to be ‘trendy’ in 2018. Even florals are coming to style with everything you have at your wedding: you can even match your wedding color palette or bouquets to the flowers on your places when decorating the main course. Another trend of 2018 are ‘make your own’ dishes such as street tacos, having food trucks, burritos, bruschetta, and your own sandwiches. In a world where everything is customizable, why not your wedding food!
Well, there you have it! Some 2018 wedding food trends! Hope this helps when planning your wedding menu and gets your mind going on what to offer that fits your wedding day perfectly.
