I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Alright guys, this week’s banter goes out to you! Mens wedding attire can get extremely pricey and when you add all your groomsmen attire too, man, be prepared! Now, most guys tend to simply rent their suit and the other guys rent theirs as well, and that’s just fine! Just keep in mind with renting, it’s not yours, so be careful with what gets spilled on it, and make sure someone is available to return it the next day.
For our wedding, we discovered the best well kept secret in the wedding industry. For men to get their wedding outfits, go in the WINTER! There, local shops and boutiques are selling their wedding shirts, pants, jackets, everything at the best discount ever. They’re getting rid of all last year’s styles and getting in new everything. So take advantage of it! Once summer hits, be prepared to drop even more dollars on the latest fashions- and by then, the sales rack would have been picked over pretty good.
One other thing we discovered is game changing. So, we bought my maid of honors dress on Azazie. Wonderful shop, great styles, and even greater prices. It might take a while to get what you ordered due to long production times, but they really deliver. (we’ll talk more about bridesmaids dress in another banter post). But on that same website, they had men’s accessories available that actually matched the colors offered for their products online. So Jessica, my maid of honor, had the same exact color as Matt’s best man’s tie. It was absolutely perfect and turned out amazing in our wedding pictures. So guys, let your bride know, or even keep this in mind: whenever you are shopping for matching colors, make sure ahead of time you see if that same vendor offers the same color for dresses and men’s ties. It will truly be a lifesaver.
One last thing to keep in mind is overall what to wear. Now, I know it’s traditional to wear pants, matching jacket, dress shirt and tie, but think about the weather of your wedding day. Will you be warm enough? Cool enough? Can you take off your jacket and be comfortable rolling up your sleeves in the summertime. Since we got married in August, we wanted to find a ‘dressy’ outfit for Matt that kept him cool in the summer heat. So we went with light gray slacks and matching thin vest, with an ivory shirt (to match my dress) and an ivory tie. It went with the ‘summer theme’ of nice soft colors, and he didn’t have too many layers on. So just keep in mind that you don’t have to have a jacket, or even a vest. Whatever is comfortable to you is what matters in the end. And of course what your bride wants!
Guys, I hope this helps with picking out your outfits and gives you ideas to look your best on your big day!
Until next time, friends! Thanks for tuning into this week’s Bridal Banter and we’ll see you next Wednesday!
