I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Today’s SJ’s Bridal Banter is all about planning your Vow Renewal that will be super epic.
A couple weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to capture Ashley and Josh’s Vow Renewal at the base of Mt. Rainier. Ashley has hiked a ton of mountain peeks in her life and has always wanted to go to Mt. Rainier to hike. So I met up with this amazing couple on a warm Fall Monday afternoon and documented their renewal of their vows. Yes, we might have went into the meadows, but their renewal was amazing. Their vows were so beautiful, we all ended up tearing up. Ashley, was barefoot and running around the meadows looking for awesome spots to take pictures at while Josh followed closely behind her with a giant smile on his face.
For their vow renewal, we planted ourselves at the foot of a hill, they read to each other their personal and beautiful vows, and then we walked around Paradise and took some amazing pictures.
If you’re thinking of planning your 5 year, 10 year, or even 2 years, this is seriously the way to go. Ashley picked up a wedding dress that was, not only STUNNING on her, but less than $100. Josh dressed up in slacks and a collared shirt, and they made wooden rings (5 year wedding anniversary is wood), to give to each other to make their day even more special.
You don’t have to get elaborate and buy a ton of expensive things to re-create your wedding day. All you need is a location that represents your life together, like for Ashley and Josh, they love adventure so naturally, Mt. Rainier was their perfect location. Then, find little things that will make your day more special- like new rings, maybe a special dress, heck- even a new tattoo or something fun that represents your love for each other.
Then- hire a photographer! I get it, you love your wedding photos and nothing will compare to them. I know! But with your special vow renewal and getting to adventure to somewhere epic, you’ll want someone there to document all the magic. Just saying!
Anyway, when planning a vow renewal, remember, you don’t need to spend a ton of money, you don’t need to do anything elaborate: all you need is a few nice outfits, a location (thats epic) and represents your love, and a photographer. Seriously, don’t over think it! It’s such a fun idea and it brings you and your spouse closer.
I can’t wait to plan my vow renewal with my husband. Right now, we’re thinking in 5 years, we’ll plan a trip to England and New Zealand, obviously bringing/ hiring a photographer, getting a little white dress, and bam- renew our vows. Heck, maybe we’ll renew our vows in Hobbiton! haha Guess we’ll have to see!
Happy Bridal Banter, friends!!
