I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Kirsten and Tyler had a stunningly beautiful Artist Point Elopement up in the North Cascades on this gorgeous summer day. Artist Point just opened up to the Picture Lake area, so there was still quite a bit of snow around the lake and the highest point was not yet opened. Kirsten and Tyler’s original elopement plan was going to have their main ceremony up at Picture Lake in Artist Point, but with the snow, they decided last minute to move their ceremony and reception to the Silver Lake Day Lodge. And it was gorgeous!!
They had their closest friends and family for a small and intimate ceremony and reception at the lodge while the three of us went up to Artist Point for a private vow reading and plenty of portraits. It was super warm up there and the sun was shinning super bright! Kirsten and Tyler are so adorable and it was such a fun and amazing adventure. As we were climbing up the mountain (in our car) I kept thinking of the Creed song “Higher” and singing it on the way up haha Sorry guys!!
Anyway! After their portraits, we headed to the lodge for their ceremony and mini reception, then headed back to their cabin for an awesome sparkler send off. I really love chill and fun elopements like these because the couple gets to do what they want, feel all the feels, and enjoy themselves!!
So this is how these two amazing people met: “Through mutual friends in high school. We usually hung out in separate circles, with our paths crossing every now and then. Shortly before my high school graduation in 2009, Tyler and I were both living with friends directly across the street from one another. Tyler saw me drive past him one day, sent me a text, and asked if I wanted to hang out. We’ve been together ever since.”
And this is how their proposal went down: “We were visiting a snowy cabin in Leavenworth, WA with two of our dear friends (Rachelle and Brendan). When the sun set, we all went out to explore the property surrounding the cabin. Randomly, we found a beautiful balcony that was perfectly lit and blanketed with snow. I asked Tyler to dance (as usually do to be silly) and Rachelle played a song from her phone (which we’ll use as our first dance song). Shortly into our dance, Tyler knelt down and asked me the question I’d waited over a decade to hear. I was so shocked – my first response was, “Is this real?!”. I could barely stutter out “yes” before breaking into tears. While it was something we’d talked about over the years, Tyler hadn’t planned to propose that weekend. It just happened to be the perfect moment in the perfect place so he took the plunge.”
Too cute!! A huge congratulations to Kirsten and Tyler!! Y’all are amazing and I wish you guys nothing but happiness! Cheers!
