Okay, so this Ashford Riverside Elopement was not your typical Mt. Rainier elopement day… and honestly? It turned out to be even better.

The plan was to head into Mt. Rainier National Park, but the universe had other ideas. I’m talking over six miles of cars backed up at the entrance—and a three+ hour wait just to maybe get in. Yikes. Their sweet little cabin was just outside the entrance, and even that took forever to get to. But when I finally arrived? We pivoted—and created the most beautiful Ashford Riverside Elopement right then and there.

Terra and Cody—already married but wanting to re-read vows and make it officially mega married—decided to keep things close to their cabin and read their vows by the river. With their two adorable kiddos, Mason and Hailey, along for the adventure, it was intimate, emotional, and totally them.

We started with some cozy getting-ready moments in the cabin with the kids (seriously, my heart). Then we wandered down to the riverside just as the sun began to set. Terra and Cody shared heartfelt vows to each other and to their kids, which honestly had me holding back tears behind the lens.

After the vows, we took golden hour portraits along the river—complete with spontaneous laughter, lanterns, and a detour by a possibly haunted (but photogenic!) house nearby. It was all giving romantic-spooky-forest-core vibes and I was 100% here for it.

And the real kicker? Mid-shoot, Cody pulls a surprise move that no one saw coming: he drops his pants to reveal custom undies that say “Property of Terra”. Yep. Actual laugh-out-loud moment. Still giggling.

Sure, we were bummed about the whole national park detour, but honestly, this riverside vow renewal felt so them. Simple, full of love, spontaneous, and FUN. Proof that even when things don’t go to plan, love (and a little silliness) always wins.
