Colorful Wallace Falls Lodge Wedding

Dani and Kyle’s Wallace Falls Lodge wedding in Gold Bar, Washington was colorful, emotional, and wildly fun. What was supposed to be a cloudy day turned into bright sunshine, giving us mountain views, glowing fall colors, and a gorgeous September afternoon at the lodge. Their palette of terracotta, paprika, grey-blue, gold, and olive green fit perfectly into the setting, while Dani’s bright blue hair brought an awesome pop of color to the day.
These two have been enjoying life together for a long time. Dani and Kyle met while working at Zeeks Pizza near the Space Needle when Dani was home from college for the summer. After hanging out a few times and grabbing drinks around Seattle, they eventually made things official, and they dove in headfirst. By their wedding, they had been together for more than 11 years.
Before the ceremony, we headed down to Wallace Falls State Park for their first look. Dani and Kyle specifically wanted that moment surrounded by the forest, and the trail gave us exactly what they were looking for. They also brought letters written to their future selves and read them together before portraits. Both were crying by the end, which felt especially meaningful considering letters were part of their engagement story too. When Dani proposed to Kyle during a cabin getaway celebrating 10 years together, they had spent the evening writing letters to their future selves before she surprised him with a tattoo certificate asking him to “make this love story permanent.” Kyle later also proposed to Dani during a family trip to the Philippines.
Once the tears were handled, their portraits got a lot less serious. Dani and Kyle are silly together, and there was no reason to turn that off just because they were in wedding clothes. We had plenty of kissing, laughing, ridiculous faces, rock-star energy, and Kyle flipping that long hair around. Dani’s tattoos, blue hair, and flowing dress looked incredible against the forest, and their personalities made every part of the session feel unmistakably theirs.
Back at Wallace Falls Lodge, the wedding party brought even more fall color into the day, with terracotta attire against the lodge and surrounding greenery. Kyle wore a huge bolo tie and gifted his guys little arrow pins while they were getting ready. The ceremony itself brought another round of happy tears, laughter, and the kind of moments that made it obvious how loved these two are.
One of the best parts of the day was how much Dani and Kyle prioritized being with their people. They have said their favorite way to spend their time is with their chosen family, and their wedding absolutely reflected that. After the ceremony, they pulled two chairs up to the altar and basically created their own photo booth, letting anyone who wanted a photo with them jump in. There was a line of friends and family waiting for their turn, and we kept the whole thing fast, silly, and very on brand for them.
Later, Dani changed into a short reception dress before she and Kyle made their entrance with a choreographed dance. Dinner came from Lala’s Food Truck, followed by toasts, family dances, cake, and a full dance floor. And then there was the cake. For reasons I still do not know, it said “Happy Retirement, Dr. Wagner Jr.” across the top. Was it intentional? Absolutely. Do I have the complete story? Absolutely not. Somehow that only made it better.
Even after more than a decade together, Dani and Kyle still talk about finding ways to surprise each other and make each other laugh. They tackle conflict together, communicate through the hard things, and are excited to keep falling in love as their lives continue to change. Their wedding felt like a perfect reflection of that relationship. It was sentimental without taking itself too seriously, full of color and personality, and centered around the people they love most.
