I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Vie and Zheng had a gorgeous Edgewater Hotel Wedding in Seattle and it was such a blast!
A few weeks before their wedding day, we met up at one of my absolute favorite places in Washington for their engagement session. They waited for the best weather and the best time of year to head up to Artist Point, and it couldn’t have worked out any better. The mountain was showing off, the skies were clear, and for the first time all year my favorite spot at the top was finally open, giving us access to the famous reflecting pool. We seriously timed it perfectly.
They even brought their puppy, Ryker, along for the adventure. He spent the evening zooming all over the remaining snow while Vie and Zheng laughed the entire time. After exploring the trails and soaking in every incredible mountain view, we finished the evening with ramen at the top of the mountain while watching the sun begin to disappear. It was one of those engagement sessions that felt less like taking photos and more like spending an evening with friends.
Throughout the entire session, these two hardly took their eyes off each other. Every smile, every laugh, and every quiet moment together felt completely natural. Knowing I’d be photographing their wedding just a few days later made the whole evening even more exciting because I already knew their wedding day was going to be something special.
When Sunday finally arrived, it absolutely lived up to every expectation.
Vie and Zheng had their wedding at the Edgewater Hotel in downtown Seattle, and every part of the day reflected not only who they are as a couple, but the journey that brought them here. Before the ceremony, they celebrated with a traditional Tea Ceremony where they gave tea to their elders and the people who mean the most to them (+family), and those people gave the couple a gift. It was such a beautiful tradition to witness and such a meaningful way to begin the day before saying “I do.”
After getting ready, we took advantage of the super sunny Seattle weather with portraits overlooking the city before the ceremony. The Edgewater Hotel sits right on the waterfront, making it one of Seattle’s most iconic wedding venues, and between Elliott Bay, the Space Needle, and the downtown skyline, there wasn’t a bad view anywhere we turned.
Their ceremony took place inside the Olympic Ballroom before everyone gathered to celebrate an incredible evening together. The reception was full of heartfelt moments, amazing food, and so much excitement from everyone who came to celebrate these two. One of the most unforgettable details from the night had to be the cutouts of Ryker’s face making their way around the dance floor while everyone danced the night away. It was such a fun surprise and perfectly fit their personalities.
As the evening came to a close, we stepped away one last time for sunset portraits. We started inside their wedding suite before heading back out onto the terrace overlooking the Space Needle and downtown Seattle skyline. The warm sunset light reflecting across the water created the perfect ending to an already unforgettable day.
One of the things I loved most about both their engagement session and wedding day was how intentional everything felt. Their wedding theme, “Of Tides and Peaks,” reflected their journey together from the tides of San Diego to the peaks of Washington. Shades of blue, gold, and green carried throughout the celebration, inspired by the sea, the forests, and even the sparkle of the night sky. It wasn’t just a beautiful color palette. It told their story.
Looking back at both days together, it’s impossible not to see how perfectly they fit. Their engagement session captured the adventure they love sharing together, while their wedding celebrated the people, traditions, and places that have shaped their lives. From mountain views at Artist Point to the Seattle waterfront at the Edgewater, every chapter reflected exactly who Vie and Zheng are.
Congratulations again, Vie and Zheng! Thank you for trusting me to capture both your engagement session and your wedding day. It was such an honor to document this season of your lives, and I wish you both nothing but happiness as you begin this next adventure together.
