I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Janae and Tyler’s Artist Point bridal portraits were the dreamiest way to celebrate their recent wedding, complete with incredible fall colors, glowing mountain peaks, and their adorable doodle, Cairo! After photographing so many beautiful adventures at Artist Point, I couldn’t have imagined a better session to close out my season in the North Cascades.
These two recently got married and wanted another opportunity to get dressed up and celebrate together in the mountains. Janae looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress, Tyler was looking ridiculously handsome in his suit, and Cairo was more than ready for an adventure. We started at Heather Meadows, where the fall colors were at their peak and the soft clouds gave us the most gorgeous lighting. The sun even made an appearance as we wandered around Mount Baker, and I was already losing my mind over how beautiful everything looked.
One of the most meaningful moments of the evening came from a story Janae and Tyler shared about growing up. They lived in different neighborhoods, but both grew up looking toward Mount Baker. For years, they were seeing the same mountain from different places, long before their lives came together. When they told me that, I knew we needed to create a portrait that honored that connection. I had them stand together with lanterns, looking out toward the mountain that had been part of both their stories for so long. It was such a beautiful, full-circle moment.
As the evening continued, we made our way to Huntoon Point with Cairo, who was having the absolute time of his life running around the mountains. He even got his own tiny lantern! Between the puppy paw prints on Janae’s dress and his endless enthusiasm, he made sure he was a very important part of their bridal portraits. And because Janae and Tyler had recently moved into a new home and needed a bathroom portrait, I managed to capture the most perfectly timed photo of Cairo doing his business in front of the mountains. With the alpenglow behind him, no less. Honestly, that might be the greatest bathroom artwork ever created.
And then came the sunset. OH MY GOD, the sunset! The alpenglow on Mount Shuksan seemed to last forever, the clouds turned the prettiest shades of pink, and the mountain reflections were absolutely unreal. Every time I thought we had captured the perfect moment, the light would change and we’d find another reason to keep going. We wandered back toward the water to catch those last gorgeous reflections, and I genuinely didn’t want the evening to end.
Janae and Tyler are two of the sweetest people, and photographing their love in a place that means so much to their story was incredibly special. From the fall colors at Heather Meadows to the pink skies over Artist Point, everything about this evening was beyond beautiful. This was my final Artist Point session of the season, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect ending.
Thank you, Janae and Tyler, for trusting me with these memories and bringing Cairo along for the adventure. I’ll be obsessing over these photos for a very, very long time!
