Romantic Tipsoo Lake Surprise Proposal

Blake and Baili’s Tipsoo Lake proposal at Mount Rainier was two years in the making, and every little detail came together for one incredibly sweet surprise! Blake booked me nine months before the big day, and together we planned exactly where he would propose, where I would hide, and how we’d capture the moment without Baili suspecting a thing.

The location was especially meaningful to them. Three years earlier, Blake and Baili had said “I love you” for the first time during a paint-and-sip date, where they painted a Mount Rainier landscape together. When they moved in together, that painting was the first thing they hung in their home. Blake chose the exact spot that inspired their painting to ask Baili to marry him.

On the day of the proposal, I met their family and friends at Tipsoo Lake, including loved ones who had traveled from Florida and New York for the surprise. We all hid in the bushes while Blake and Baili approached from across the lake. I had my zoom lens ready, everyone was holding their excitement, and then Blake got down on one knee.

She said YES!

The happy tears continued when everyone came out of hiding! We celebrated with family portraits, champagne, and photos of that gorgeous engagement ring before stealing away for some portraits of just the two of them.

The fall colors around Tipsoo Lake were absolutely stunning, and the evening sunshine gave us the dreamiest backdrop. We explored the shoreline and little peninsula as the sun disappeared, then brought out the lanterns for a few final portraits after dark.

Getting to help Blake plan this moment and watch Baili discover every surprise was such a joy. From the meaningful location to having their favorite people there to celebrate, it was a beautiful evening from beginning to end.
