I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Mat Kearney had the most amazing concert at the Mt. Baker Theater in Bellingham, WA in September and it was absolutely electric. The whole Mat Kearney team were so great, welcoming, hilarious, and helpful with literally anything I needed. Walking into the crew room and the band room felt like walking into my living room at home- super warm and fun.
After helping Mr. Kearney get dressed (it was hilarious to see how many outfits he tried on to get the ‘vibe’ right!), they put their hands together and went to go perform the first show of their tour. They performed for over an hour inside this gorgeous theater and Mat played all the hits over his 20+ year career. The band even played “Call me Al” towards the end of show where the band danced together in synchronization.
The whole show felt like home. The sound of Mat’s voice, the warm acoustic guitar strums playing to the tune of my favorite songs I listened to growing up like “Ships in the Night” and “Nothing Left to Loose”. I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time. The crowed loved every song they performed and then at the end of the night to “Hey Momma” they all got up to dance together.
Before the show, I asked if the band does any pre-show group hug or any traditions before going on stage, and they told me no, but for once, Mat and his team hyped each other up and shook hands with anyone they saw saying “have a good show” to literally anyone nearby! Also check out some BTS video footage I was able to get backstage and during the show here.
Overall, this night was one of my favorite nights Ive had the privilege of photographing in my career. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m so grateful to Mat Kearney and his team for letting me hang backstage with them, photograph them, and just meeting everyone.
If you haven’t listened to Mat Kearney before, I really suggest you do so. All his music feels like a warm cup of your favorite tea. 🙂
