Mt. Rainier National Park / Paradise, Washington

Lauren and Alex ran up to Mount Rainier to elope — just the two of them! Traveling all the way from Detroit, MI, they planned a week-long adventure in Washington, with their Mt. Rainier elopement as the highlight of their trip. The mountain, often called the queen of Washington, was the perfect backdrop for their intimate vows.

When it came to witnesses, we didn’t need to plan ahead — Mt. Rainier provided. A sweet family wandered by right as the ceremony began, completely in awe that anyone would get married in such a stunning location. They happily filmed the ceremony for Lauren and Alex, and one of them signed the marriage license (the other witness being me, of course).

Then, in the middle of their vows, a deer trotted right in front of them. I’m told that’s a sign of good luck, but I was elbows-deep in their bag searching for the wedding band and missed the photo opportunity — something I’ll probably regret forever!

After the “I do’s,” we adventured up to Paradise. We popped champagne, read vows in the meadows, and played with lanterns as the evening light softened around us. As blue hour fell, Mt. Rainier finally revealed herself in all her glory. Lauren and Alex sat side-by-side, wrapped in the magic of the moment, enjoying Trader Joe’s brownies while the mountain stood behind them like a quiet blessing.

This Mt. Rainier elopement was everything I love about photographing adventurous couples — spontaneous, joyful, and filled with unforgettable little moments! Lauren and Alex are such cool humans, and I already know this won’t be the last time we cross paths. Their day was absolutely perfect, and their gallery? One of my all-time favorites!!
