I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Katie and Paul had an intimate and gorgeous Ruby Beach Elopement in October 2022 and it was the most perfect day. The sun was shinning, these two came all the way across the country, and everything worked out perfectly. All Katie and Paul wanted was to elope in the Olympic National Forest and have their ceremony at Ruby Beach and they did just that. Bringing along some Voodoo Doughnuts as well, they ended their day on the beach eating doughnuts.
We started the day off at our cabin to get ready at and then adventured to the Hoh Rainforest in the Olympic National Park. For anyone who has been up there before, it’s absolutely incredible, and I highly recommend visiting the Hall of Mosses for all your rainforest pictures. Its the best and suuuper magnificent. Katie and Paul then wanted to have their ceremony on Ruby Beach, so we traveled there and walked to their spot that they loved the most. With a quick ceremony, these two exchanged their vows on the beach, and then we quickly got to creating tons of portraits during golden hour and into blue hour. It was such a blast wandering around the beach with these two and catching the golden light beams coming through on the rocks there was just so magical. We also had fun running into the freezing water with lanterns and ended with a treat.
Alright, are you ready for this love story? It’s such a good one! This is how Katie and Paul met: “We met in early 2020, right before the pandemic hit. Dating online is never easy as most people know. I was working out of town in Charleston, SC for a new job. We both have Match.com profiles and I just happen to activate mine to meet new people in the area. Paul ended up sending me a message and our conversations took off. We both knew that we had common interests, especially in music, antiques, art, traveling, our love of animals, good food, etc. After talking for a few weeks we decided to have coffee together at Starbucks in West Ashley where I was living. We ended up talking until Starbucks closed and then about 2+ hours in the parking lot outside Starbucks! Since Paul worked in law enforcement at the time and overnights, I was unsure of how this would play out since I work a normal 9-5 job. We decided to take it “date by date” and see where things headed. Fast forward to later in 2020, I got a job offer back in Virginia where I moved from that I could not pass up. I moved back and he ended up quitting law enforcement after 17 years and moving up to be with me. It has been over 2 years now since he moved here.”
And this is what these two lovebirds like to do together:”We both enjoy traveling, our 10 puppies!, concerts, visiting family, trying new restaurants, hiking/being outdoors. We love to just head out on a random Sunday and take a drive with good music on! We have been on several road trips to Colorado and the PNW and that is probably our most favorite activity to date!”
So a huge congratulations to Katie and Paul! May you guys be happy forever and enjoy your Ruby Beach Elopement photos! Cheers!
