Annalyse + Bryce
This Poulsbo Airbnb wedding brought Annalyse and Bryce’s closest people together for an intimate day filled with happy tears, family details, their dog Maggie, and plenty of time to enjoy being together. The Airbnb had a little bit of everything, including a big lawn for the ceremony, blackberry bushes around the property, a funky barn for the reception, and trees that gave these two a quiet place to start the day together.
Annalyse and Bryce first met while working at the same restaurant, became friends, and eventually realized there was a whole lot more there. After six years together, that friendship is still such an obvious part of their relationship. They are incredibly in sync, and throughout the day it felt like one of them only had to look at the other to know exactly what was going on.
Before the ceremony, they shared a first look and read their vows privately among the trees with Maggie, their very important dog of honor, nearby. Then we headed into downtown Poulsbo for portraits along the waterfront and around the Norwegian-inspired shops and architecture. The sun was BRIGHT and the day was way hotter than expected, so the sunglasses came out and we leaned into it. We even found a telephone booth to play around in before heading back to the Airbnb.
Their wedding details carried some pretty special family history, too. Bryce wore his grandfather’s ring, while Annalyse’s custom ring was made by her dad. After their outdoor ceremony, everyone settled into cocktail hour, family photos, barbecue, toasts, cake, and parent dances. One of my favorite moments happened when Annalyse started crying while hugging her dad. Bryce looked over during his dance with his mom, saw Annalyse crying, and immediately started crying too. There were a LOT of happy tears from these two all day.
Later, we crossed the street for golden hour portraits in the tall grass just as the sun dropped behind the trees. Then it was back to the reception for dancing, card games, light-stick duels, and hanging out with a group that genuinely felt like one big family. Their wedding-day safe word was “pickles” whenever these two introverts needed a little quiet time, which may be one of my favorite wedding-day systems ever.
By the end of the night, Bryce asked if we could all be friends because I was “really chill.”
Obviously, yes.
