I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
Carly and Ben’s RoozenGaarde Tulip Farm engagement session was such a good one. These two came all the way from Wisconsin to spend the week in Washington with their family, and we met up in Mount Vernon right in the middle of peak tulip season.
Spring in the Skagit Valley always brings a little unpredictability, and this day was no exception. We had wind, a little rain, and everything moving in every direction, but Carly and Ben fully embraced it. They never let the weather get to them and just kept smiling through it all, which made the entire session feel easy and relaxed.
The tulips were absolutely on point. Row after row of color, stretching in every direction, and RoozenGaarde really showed off. It is one of those places that feels worth the trip every single time, no matter what the conditions look like when you arrive.
But more than anything, it was these two. Carly and Ben have such a natural, easy connection. They spent the entire session laughing, leaning into each other, and giving me those quiet, in-between moments that make engagement sessions feel so personal. They did not need perfect conditions. They just needed each other.
I actually met Carly at her cousin’s wedding a few years back, so getting to see her again and photograph this season of life felt really special. There is something meaningful about being invited back into the same families, getting to document different chapters as they unfold. It is one of my favorite parts of this work.
We focused primarily on their engagement photos throughout the session, making the most of the color and movement in the fields, but also took a little time to capture a few moments with Carly’s family who was visiting with them. It was such a fun way to round out their time here in Washington.
Carly and Ben, thank you for trusting me with this season. It was so good to spend the evening with you both and document what this moment looks like for you.
RoozenGaarde is always worth the trip, and I am already looking forward to being back out there again.
