I’m known for capturing those didn’t-know-you-were-there shots and busting a move on the dance floor just to get those perfect candids. I also work with you to ensure we incorporate your style and story into your engagement and wedding photos!
This Stormy Mt. Rainier Portrait Session was the perfect way for Sam and Bennett to celebrate while visiting Washington from out of state.
We met at Mt. Rainier National Park with beautiful weather and plenty of optimism. Before long, the skies changed, and what started as a calm evening quickly turned into one of the wildest sessions I’ve photographed. Instead of calling it early, Sam and Bennett laughed and loved their way through it and kept going.
At the base of the mountain, they exchanged rings, completed a handfasting tying, and shared private vows together. Although they’ll make everything official once they’re back home, because I’m ordained, I was able to quietly pronounce them married after they finished their vows. It was an honor to be part of such a meaningful moment.
One of my favorite things about these two was how little the changing conditions mattered to them. They weren’t worried about waiting for perfect skies or changing their plans. They were simply excited to be together and to celebrate this season of their lives. That made the entire evening feel relaxed, genuine, and completely centered on the two of them.
Getting to photograph couples like Sam and Bennett is one of my favorite parts of my job. Sometimes everything goes exactly as planned, and sometimes the mountain has other ideas. Either way, the best sessions always come back to the people in front of my camera, and these two made every moment worth remembering.
The adventure wasn’t quite over when I packed up my gear. On the drive down the mountain, a rock rolled into the road directly in front of my car, leaving me with a flat tire. Thankfully, two incredibly kind groups of people stopped to help, and I made it home safely. Looking back, it was the perfect ending to a day that kept surprising us from start to finish.
I’m so grateful Sam and Bennett trusted me to document such a meaningful part of their story, and I’m excited for them to celebrate with all of their family and friends back home.
